Toy Buying Guide: 0-6 months
While young infants spend most of their time sleeping and feeding, once they become more alert, you can start to introduce them to toys to play with. In the first 6 months, they're developing their senses. They're learning about the world through their eyes, ears, nose, touch and taste.

0-2 months:
- Like seeing and hearing interesting things
- Choose toys that make movements and noise (sensory toys)
- Toys with bright colors, simple designs, human face features, or bulls eye patterns
- Examples: Rattles, teethers, soft balls, hanging mobile, plush animal
2-6 months:
- Growing interest in touching, holding, shaking, mouthing
- Toys with interesting texture and appropriate size to mouth
- Toys that produce effects by their own activity
- Examples: Interlocking plastic rings, hand held manipulables, baby gym
